Magazine editor-in-chief KWO PIK (Liza Wang) will never save face for her superiors, nor will she come to the defense of her subordinates. She shows no mercy to her enemies and does everything she can to keep her son KWO TAK (Bosco Wong) under her thumb. She is an iron lady who can't afford to lose anything. As she is still full of confidence that she can determine her son's future life, a plain, geeky-looking girl named CHOW LAI-MAN (Myolie Wu) has already managed to become the wife of TAK. Later MAN resigns from the police force and chooses to work as a magazine journalist, thus leading to even more conflicts between her and PIK.Not long after, PIK is dragged into a scandal and gets framed by her assistant KO PO-PO (Joyce Tang), which causes her to lose her place all of a sudden. Facing a dramatic career slump and her deteriorating relationship with her son and daughter-in-law, PIK moves to the outlying islands on her own. There she meets a new man in her life, the knowledgeable and talented BUT PING-FAN (Benz Hung) who was once a convict. From FAN, PIK has learnt how to reflect on herself and let go of the past. As everything seems to be going fine, MAN discovers that there is a conspiracy going on and that the magazine she is working for is in danger of falling apart.

    My Personal Thoughts
As much as the series is suppose to be a replica from Devil Wears Prada, I have a feeling it wouldn't do so well like any other American remade series of TVB's. Perhaps it could be the different producer but after watching the music video and trailer, I'm just not grasped in to it. I feel it's cheesy and the way they promote it looks bad. If anyone wants me to provide the video for their trailers, let me know and you'll see why. I understand they are fashion designers and want to be...modern and classy but their english sounds! It's like how we feel when we hear english born celebs i.e Bernice or Fala speak Chinese... it just bugs me when I hear it.
Secondly, the themesong I dont find it catchy enough or just doesnt seem to match the series. It seems like a tune for Life Made Simple or one of those cheery series. This series is cheery with the comedy but I feel the original WOIL's themesong sounded better.

I'm still deciding whether or not to watch this series. Perhaps anyone who is can give me some idea and opinions on the series. On the side note, I really hope TVB doesn't plan on having Liza win a Best Actress award again for her barbaric role ( like Roger Kwok for his Ah Wong's Role for Life Made Simple. I dont get it, Ah Wong was still Ah Wong...) but then again, there's so many bigger series coming up for the year 2008...chances of her winnning are lower with Gem made up of many great actresses.
